Energy Psychology for Anxiety: A More Effective Path to Lasting Relief and Healing
Anxiety doesn’t just affect how you think. It affects how you live.
It shows up at night, when your mind won’t slow down.
It shows up in your body, as tension, restlessness, or a racing heart.
It shows up in your relationships, your work, your ability to be present.
And over time, it can start to feel like this is just how life is going to be.
If you’re here, you’re probably not just looking to understand your anxiety better.
You want relief.
You want change.
You want to feel like yourself again.
You’re Not Broken… You’re Stuck in a Pattern That Hasn’t Shifted Yet
The people who come to Rising Up are incredibly thoughtful, self-aware, and intelligent.
They’ve read the books.
They’ve done therapy.
They understand their patterns and their triggers.
And still… their anxiety keeps showing up the same way.
That can feel confusing, even discouraging.
But it makes sense.
Because anxiety isn’t just something you “figure out.”
It’s something your nervous system is doing automatically.
You can understand your anxiety completely… and still feel overwhelmed by it.
That’s where a different kind of approach becomes necessary.
Why Energy Psychology Can Change What Talk Therapy Alone Couldn’t
At Rising Up, we use energy psychology practices like Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT) to help shift anxiety where it actually lives… in the body.
EFT is simple, but powerful.
It involves gently tapping with your fingers on specific acupressure points on the body while focusing on what you’re feeling and repeating certain phrases or affirmations.
This process helps your nervous system calm down while you’re still connected to the experience.
Instead of avoiding anxiety or trying to think your way out of it, you’re teaching your body:
“I can feel this… and I can still be okay.”
For many clients, this is where things start to shift.
They begin to:
feel their body settle more quickly
experience less intensity around triggers
move through anxious moments without spiraling
feel more in control instead of overwhelmed
It’s not just insight anymore.
It’s a different experience in your body.
This Is Where Lasting Change Starts to Happen
At Rising Up, we don’t rely on one method. Anxiety is too complex for that.
Instead, we bring together approaches that work on different parts of your experience… your thoughts, your emotions, your body, and your nervous system.
Each one gives you something practical. Something you can actually use.
Changing Thought Patterns: Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
CBT helps you understand how your thoughts are shaping your anxiety.
But more importantly, it teaches you how to work with those thoughts.
You’ll learn how to:
recognize automatic negative thinking patterns
challenge worst-case scenario thinking
step out of overthinking loops
create more balanced, realistic perspectives
Over time, your thoughts start to feel less convincing… and less controlling.
Building Emotional Stability: Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)
When anxiety spikes, it can feel like your emotions take over completely.
DBT gives you tools to handle those moments without getting overwhelmed.
You’ll learn how to:
regulate intense emotions in real time
tolerate distress without shutting down or reacting impulsively
stay present even when things feel uncomfortable
communicate your needs more effectively
This is where people start to feel more steady… even when life isn’t.
Reprocessing What Is Still Stuck: EMDR
Sometimes anxiety is fueled by experiences that your system hasn’t fully processed.
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) helps your brain do what it was naturally designed to do… process and resolve those experiences.
What makes EMDR different is that it doesn’t require you to relive everything or tell your story over and over again.
Instead, it uses guided eye movements to help your brain reprocess memories in a way that reduces their emotional intensity.
Clients often notice:
certain memories feel less triggering
their emotional reactions become less intense
they feel more present instead of pulled into the past
It creates space where there used to be reactivity.
Releasing Stress in the Body: Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT)
As mentioned above, EFT involves gently tapping on specific acupressure points while focusing on what you’re feeling and repeating supportive phrases.
This may seem simple, but it’s one of the most effective ways to calm the nervous system in the moment.
You’ll learn how to:
use tapping when anxiety spikes
stay connected to your experience without getting overwhelmed
shift your emotional state in real time
Many clients begin to feel something they haven’t felt in a while… relief in their body, not just in their thoughts.
Slowing Everything Down: Mindfulness, Meditation, and Breathwork
Anxiety pulls you into the future. Into “what if.” Into worst-case scenarios.
Mindfulness and meditation help bring you back to the present moment.
Not in a forced or rigid way… but in a way that feels accessible and grounding.
You’ll learn how to:
notice anxiety earlier, before it escalates
use your breath to calm your body
stay present instead of getting pulled into spirals
create small moments of calm throughout your day
These practices become anchors you can return to again and again.
When It All Comes Together
Each of these approaches does something different.
But together, they create real change.
You start to think differently.
You start to feel differently.
You start to respond differently.
And over time, anxiety stops feeling like something that controls your life.
It becomes something you understand… something you can move through… something that no longer defines you.
An Anxiety Skills Bootcamp… Designed to Help You Move Forward
We sometimes describe our program as an anxiety skills bootcamp.
What that really means is this:
It’s an immersion in the skills that actually help anxiety shift.
You’ll attend sessions a few hours a day, a few days a week, in a virtual setting. During that time, you’re not just talking. You’re actively learning, practicing, and applying tools in real time.
That level of repetition is what helps things stick.
And just as important…
This is not meant to be forever.
You are not meant to stay in “bootcamp.”
This is a focused period of support designed to help you build the skills and confidence you need so that you can move forward in your life.
So that your weekly therapy becomes proactive.
So that you’re building your life… not just managing crisis.
You’ll Be With People Who Truly Understand What You’re Going Through
One of the biggest concerns people have about group therapy is whether they’ll feel out of place.
At Rising Up, we are intentional about this.
You won’t be placed in a group with people who are dealing with completely different challenges. Our groups are designed so that you are alongside others who understand what you’re experiencing.
That creates:
deeper connection
more meaningful conversations
a stronger sense of safety
You’re not just learning skills from clinicians.
You’re also experiencing what it feels like to be understood by others who are walking a similar path.
And that kind of connection is deeply healing.
A Virtual Program With the Option for In-Person Support
Rising Up is a virtual program, making it accessible and flexible for adults in Massachusetts.
At the same time, we know that in-person connection can matter.
If you’re located in or around the Buzzards Bay area, you have the option to attend sessions from our on-site computer lab. You’ll still be participating in the virtual program, but you’ll be in a supportive physical space and able to connect with staff in person.
What Life Can Start to Feel Like
As this work begins to take hold, people often notice:
their mind feels quieter
their body feels less reactive
they recover more quickly when anxiety shows up
they feel more present in their relationships
they stop organizing their life around avoiding anxiety
It’s not about becoming a different person.
It’s about feeling more like yourself again… without anxiety running everything.
You Don’t Have to Keep Living Like This
Anxiety can feel permanent when you’ve been living with it for a long time.
But it isn’t.
With the right support, your system can learn something new.
You can feel calmer.
More grounded.
More in control of your life.
